The Fated

The Fated are one of the Factions of Sigil. Their Faction philosophy is best summed up as “might makes right”. They believe that the only rules in the multiverse that matter are Take What You Can and Keep What You Take. A Taker's worth is measured by their ability to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and stand on their own two feet without anybody's help.

While this philosophy might seem selfish, and even evil to most (and indeed, the Fated's ranks are made up of many who live up to that image), not all Fated are truly Heartless. Good-aligned Fated believe that the weak should be taught how to be strong, rather than exploited, and that teaching a man how to help himself is the best way to spread the Faction's views.

The Fated control the Hall of Records in Sigil, and control both the city's property market and tax code. This makes them unpopular to most, but in accordance with their Faction philosophy, they don't care much for the whining of those too weak to fend for themselves.

Faction Benefits and Drawbacks

Fated members value self-sufficiency, and make the effort to learn as many skills as possible. They treat all skills as Class skills when spending skill points, regardless of actual class.

Fated members can never give or receive charity of any kind. Everything must be earned in some way. While the Fated player has some leeway in determining what exactly that means, the GM has final say on whether the PCs actions violate the Faction ethos. Repeated violations can lead to expulsion from the Faction (and the loss of Benefits)
