Dash-A

My name is 1253-A. If it doesn't show too much vanity, I'd like to point out that I'm an “A” model. Not too many of those out on the Great Wheel if I may say so myself! But, to begin, for countless eons I was a simple Modrone, happily going about my duties on Mechanicus content in my life of bringing order to the multiverse by doing my part to keep the wheels of Mechanicus turning smoothly.

Then 17 years ago we were sent out on the latest Great Modrone March by our Lord Primus, the Great Prime “One”, may He reign forever. This un-orderly March disturbed many but I was firm in my Faith and Trust and knew that His Orderness could see a pattern that in my simpleness I could not.

This was a glorious time for me and my comrades, so grand that it overwhelmed me in its perfectness to the extent that my simple mind could retain little. I do remember the darkest moment of my long existence though: After bring the glory of Law to the poor benighted petitioners of Arcadia we marched with firm determination onto the mountain of the Seven Heavens.

It was here, somehow, that I became separated from my comrades. This was a time of great trial and privation. Overcome with worry for my fellow Modrones, and terrified at my loss I shamefully lost control of my mind. My memories are fragmented and disjointed. For example, I remember myself as a Perfect Sphere which is obviously untrue, since I've always been the Perfect Cube that I am now! I wandered through mists and clouds always heading into an “Easterly” breeze. I know not what that this word means but my immortal cogs tell me it is true. A terrifying laughing wind-being who said he was was a Djinn (what that is on the Great Wheel I have no idea) told be to keep going so I followed his disturbingly comforting advice.

And it was then that I came on the True Platinum Majesty of His Draconic Kingship! His colour was that of the most elegant chromed gear, his curves like that of the eternal wheels of Mechanicus. In awe I threw myself down in front of his August Majesty and begged him to be my leige-lord. In a voice like the best cast bells he said the words that I have engraved on my heart (and my chassis) “I, Lord Bahamut, accept you little Modrone.”

He instructed me to return to Mechanicus and tell my Lord Primus of my new Lord. This I did, which was followed by a whirlwhind of events that flew by my like smoke, so overwhelmed with happiness was I.  Later,  I found myself, somehow, standing on the ramparts of the Seven Heavens, and then in the lair of my Lord and Master.  Instructed by his wise Gold Dragon compannions I created an egg in which to embark on my transormation.  One revolution-period later I emerged from this shell in a glorious new form that would show the whole Great Wheel my devotion to my Lord and Saviour!  I then continued to walked the Great Wheel, as I had done in my former life, searching for other lost Modrones who I could teach the way of Kindness and Salvation in the claws of Our Most Merciful Lord, Savour of the Weak, Lost and Forlorn.  It was this quest that brought me to Sigil, City of Doors, in the hope of hearing more news of the whereabouts of more of my lost brethren.
