The Black Lotus is an evil society based in Gehenna, one of the Lower Planes, and involved with unnatural experimentation in grafting parts from different creatures to mortal hosts. During the PCs escape from slavery, the guards leading their wagon were all bearing the mark of the Black Lotus on their armor. Calaban's cloak pin also bore the same mark. Several letters captured by the PCs hinted at their activities, but the ultimate motives behind the Society remain unknown.

The leader of the Black Lotus is ( Guildmaster Brackett ), an apparently powerful wizard of advanced age. Three known minions based in Sigil, Calaban, Scarlet, and Llamar, have all been defeated by the PCs. Lady Raven DuBois, leader of the Rise of the Swift, is known to be a member of the Society's inner circle, but what other members and minions still exist remains to be seen.
